DIAGNOSIS
At each visit, we assess your child's dental health, looking for signs of tooth decay, misaligned teeth, gum disease and other oral problems. X-rays may be taken to provide a comprehensive picture of the teeth and jaw.
PREVENTION
Regular brushing, flossing and limiting sugary snacks and drinks can help prevent tooth decay and gum disease. Regular dental examinations, eg at school examinations, are also important for early detection and treatment so that natural teeth can be treated and preserved immediately. >More information on school dental examination
CARIES (HOLE IN THE TOOTH)
Treatment for tooth decay in children depends on the severity of the caries. In the early stages, when the caries is limited to the tooth enamel, preventive measures such as fluoride treatments may be enough to stop the progression of the caries and protect the teeth from further damage.
If the caries has spread beyond the enamel into the underlying dentin, treatment usually consists of removing the carious part of the tooth and filling it.
WISDOM TEETH
In the teenage years, wisdom teeth can erupt or cause crowding in the mouth. We can monitor the development of the wisdom teeth and, if necessary, also carry out an extraction.
MILK TEETH AND CARIES
A common misconception is that baby teeth are not important because they will eventually fall out. Baby teeth with cavities can lead to pain, infection and possible complications for the new teeth that grow in.
CLOSE COOPERATION WITH ORTHODONTISTS
Orthodontic treatment may be necessary to correct tooth or jaw misalignment in children and adolescents. We work closely with a pool of orthodontists to ensure comprehensive treatment. By maintaining our pool of trusted orthodontic partners, we can facilitate seamless referrals and co-manage complex cases to achieve optimal outcomes for our young patients.
