Relax at the Dentist Appointment

Laughing gas has a calming, anxiety-relieving and pain-relieving effect. It relaxes you and puts you in a positive mood.

SIMPLY EXPLAINED

In nitrous oxide treatment, a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is administered to the patient through a small nose mask.

A great advantage is that the relaxing, calming and pain-relieving effect occurs quickly and can also be quickly reversed. Thus, the patient can leave the practice alone and fully conscious after only a short time.

WHAT IS LAUGHING GAS AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Laughing gas is a colourless gas with a slightly sweet odour, which has a calming, anxiety-relieving, pain-relieving and anti-gagging effect. Dental treatment, including injections for local anaesthesia, is thus experienced without anxiety and stress. An additional effect is the limited sense of time, which makes the treatment duration feel shorter and more pleasant.

WHERE IS LAUGHING GAS BEST USED?
  • For patients with anxiety

  • For longer dental procedures

  • For patients with a strong gag reflex

  • For children (from 3 years of age)

Laughing gas as a gentle form of anaesthesia has been around since 1868 and is still used today as the oldest and best-researched inhalation anaesthetic.
